This is me!
My aim in creating images is to create the feeling I had at that moment when I made the photograph, rather than record the visual image in front of me. To this end, I will use any of the tools of photography and/or the digital toolbox to accomplish that. Sometimes that process is obvious and at other times is more subtle.
I am passionate about preserving the natural environment, which is why I continue to illustrate our beautiful landscape for the enjoyment of others in my work.
I came to photography as a teenager trying to express the world around me through that medium. My professional career meant that photography remained a hobby and pastime for most of my adult life. It was later in life that I was given the opportunity to return to photography as a professional and this is what I’ve been doing for the last 17 years.
I began by photographing the landscape in the South West of France where I was living at the time. I was encouraged and mentored by a retired professional photographer for a number of years and we held several exhibitions together in the region.
Eight years ago I returned to the UK and began photographing musicians, festivals and events. I was also commissioned to photograph products for websites which I continue to do.
However my passion has always been the landscape and trying to promote beautiful places in the UK and on my travels abroad. Recently I’ve been concentrating on the intimate landscape, the trees in particular and how the changing light at different times of day, and in different seasons, create endless variations in mood and form.
I am a Licentiate of The Royal Photographic Society and I have had a number of exhibitions in the Yorkshire area since returning to the UK and I have prints on display at the Dutch House Gallery, Crayke, North Yorkshire, UK.
